COVID Times with Manor Rhymes

Spring sprang fast.

But that's far in the past.

When COVID came through,

and we said good bye to you.

We hoped it was temporary.

Wary, cautionary; times were scary.

Times are still scary, very; not contrary.

And so lonely, quiet like a library.

Puzzles and gardens, long walks with Dinero.

Bike rides and movie nights - Jack Sparrow.

The occasional elope, finding ways to hope

Anything to thrive instead of to cope.

with missing each of you, open doors, late-night tunes

We even extended our patio to prepare you all room.

Summer has gone, we hardly know where it went

With Autumn ahead though, we plan for a fall well spent.

Yes we have started hosting again in our Manor backyard.

Creating space for small groups wasn't that hard.

Keeping everyone safe is at the top of our list.

While we elbow-bump all the friends we have missed.

We've piloted new dishes to cut down on shareables.

Avoiding unnecessary contact with mosquitos malarial.

oh and humans, too. Though Dinero greets them all.

We've added more seating, encouraging sprawl!

Cocktails might wait, but the fridge is still full.

Sanitizer's on hand to keep cases null.

So the invites are beginning to flow.

And we respect those that say no.

May this poem find you healthy and well.

We love you all more than words can tell.

We can't wait until COVID ends.

Fridays aren't the same without friends.
